First appearance: The Scarecrow Appeals to Glinda the Good
As a supporting figure in The Marvelous Land of Oz, Glinda is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
The Good Witch who reveals Tip's true identity as Princess Ozma.
Glinda rules the South from a throne of wrought gold, and nothing in Oz escapes her notice — she knows the Scarecrow's petition before he speaks it. Rather than simply granting aid, she turns the request back on him: by what right does anyone hold the Emerald City's throne? That quiet cross-examination reframes the whole adventure, shifting it from a fight to reclaim a crown into a search for the true heir.
