She drives to the Beach Cliff Hotel, commandeers the desk phone to call the police and warn them, then tries to call Laura in River Heights but gets no answer. Fearing for Laura's safety, she enlists the hotel clerk's help to send a doctor to Aborn and alert police and radio stations.
