Serafima Alexandrovna appears across Sologub's short fiction as a figure whose circumstances — marriage, family, the slow pressure of routine — shape her moods and decisions. She is not a heroine of grand gestures but of small ones: a hesitation, a resentment, a moment of unexpected tenderness. Her consistency across stories makes her a useful anchor for readers entering Sologub's world, since her concerns are recognizably human even when the atmosphere around her turns strange.
