First appearance: The Million Dollar Bond Robbery
As a supporting figure in Poirot Investigates, Mr. Philip Ridgeway is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
The bank employee in charge of the stolen bonds, engaged to Miss Farquhar, and a suspect in the case.
Ridgeway is the respectable, conscientious bank official through whom a fortune in negotiable bonds passes, a man whose whole career rests on being trusted. When the bonds vanish, his professional world and his personal honor are suddenly on the line, and he must submit to Poirot's scrutiny to clear himself. He is the human cost of the case: a solid man made desperate by a theft that looks, at first, like his own failure.
