## Snapshot

A medical man who works alongside Mrs. Seacole in the Crimea, lending professional standing to her unlicensed but deeply practiced care of the sick.

## Who they are

Dr. Casey belongs to the small circle of doctors and officers who recognize Mrs. Seacole's skill when official channels do not. His collaboration underscores the central friction of her story: she is a healer without credentials, valued by those who watch her work and doubted by those who read her name. He matters because he helps translate her instinct and experience into the medical world of the camp, where her nursing becomes indispensable.
