> Anusia Borzobogata in With Fire and Sword by Henryk Sienkiewicz.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Anusia, Panna Anusia Borzobogata, Anusia Borzobogata Krasenska

**First appearance:** 0014-xv

## Snapshot

A sharp-tongued, quick-witted beauty of Princess Helena's court whose teasing flirtations with the young knights spark both rivalry and unexpected tenderness.

## Who they are

Anusia is the liveliest of the noblewomen at Lubni, and her wit makes her a match for any officer who courts her. She trades barbs with Volodyovski and then, in a single gesture, binds her scarf to the towering Lithuanian Podbipienta — a moment that reveals her mixture of mischief and genuine feeling. Her presence lightens the martial world of the novel and shows what the young men are fighting to preserve, even as she quietly wounds and consoles them in turn.
