> Twenty Years at Hull House by Jane Addams

## Answer

Twenty Years at Hull House by Jane Addams develops Art and Culture as Social Force across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Addams emphasizes the transformative power of art, music, and literature to uplift the human spirit, bridge cultural divides, and provide solace and meaning amid industrial drudgery, as shown in the music school, studio, and Shakespeare club.

The first building erected for Hull House was an art gallery, emphasizing the role of art in community uplift and enjoyment beyond wage-earning.

The Labor Museum uses traditional crafts and spinning to connect immigrants to their cultural past and to educate their children.

The chapter extensively explores how drama, music, and visual arts at Hull House serve to express immigrant identities, foster community solidarity, and address social and labor issues.
