    Part I: Zarathustra’s Discourses

    Zarathustra delivers a series of speeches to the people and his disciples, proclaiming the death of God, the need for the Superman, and the revaluation of all values. He critiques herd morality, pity, and the last man, urging self-overcoming and the will to power.

  2. Chapter 2

    Zarathustra's Prologue

    Zarathustra, after ten years of solitude in the mountains, descends to share his wisdom with humanity. He proclaims the death of God and the coming of the Superman, but the crowd in the marketplace mocks him. He witnesses the death of a rope-dancer and realizes he must seek living companions, not the masses.

  3. Chapter 3

    The Bestowing Virtue

    Zarathustra leaves the town called 'The Pied Cow' accompanied by his disciples. At a crossroads, he decides to go alone and is given a staff with a serpent twined around the sun. He speaks to his disciples about the highest virtue being a bestowing virtue, contrasting it with a selfishness that steals. He urges them to strive for a virtue that gives, and describes the origin of virtue in the body's elevation and the will to power.

  4. Chapter 4

    II

    Zarathustra urges his disciples to remain true to the earth, to bring virtue back to the body and life, and to become creators who determine values anew. He speaks of the Superman arising from a chosen people and of the earth becoming a place of healing.

  5. Chapter 5

    III

    Zarathustra urges his disciples to leave him, to find themselves, and to deny him so that he may return to them with a new love. He proclaims the great noontide when man stands between animal and Superman, and declares that the dead gods make way for the will to the Superman.
