# How does The Wonderful Wizard of Oz develop the theme of Self-Discovery and Fulfillment?

> The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

## Answer

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum develops Self-Discovery and Fulfillment across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and Cowardly Lion journey to Oz seeking brains, a heart, and courage, only to discover they already possess these qualities within themselves, highlighting that true fulfillment comes from within.

Each of Dorothy's companions already possesses the qualities they seek (brains, heart, courage), and their journey helps them realize their own worth.

Dorothy begins her quest to return home, and the Scarecrow seeks brains, each pursuing personal fulfillment.

The Scarecrow's recounting of his creation and his quest for brains highlights his journey toward self-improvement and understanding his own worth.
