## Snapshot

A great actress whose drawing-room fills with rival admirers, she coolly clears the room to be alone with the one man who does not want her.

## Who they are

Aurora Rome is the celebrated actress around whom actors, soldiers, and old hedonists orbit like a ring of amorous rivals. Her cleverness runs to one half of humanity only, and she wields it with Napoleonic precision, banishing each suitor without offending any. When the little priest arrives in answer to her summons, her careful diplomacy and his unemotional detachment set the strange machinery of the mystery in motion.
