# How does The Virginian develop the theme of Love and Romance?

> The Virginian by Owen Wister

## Answer

The Virginian by Owen Wister develops Love and Romance across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The courtship between the Virginian and Molly Wood highlights the clash of backgrounds and the transformative power of love, as she must reconcile her Eastern sensibilities with his Western authenticity.

The Virginian's fascination with Molly's letter hints at the beginning of romantic interest, described metaphorically as a seed of love.

Molly's rejection of Sam Bannett because she cannot love him, and her great-aunt's advice to marry only for love, underscore the theme of romantic love versus practical marriage.

The Virginian's journey to the barbecue is motivated by his interest in Molly, and Sam Bannett's failed proposal highlights romantic tension.
