## Snapshot

A returned exile whose name alone can raise a rebel army, Johnny Gibbons is the leader the Whiteboys wait for — and the legend they may have already buried.

## Who they are

Johnny Gibbons is the outlaw hero whispered about in quarries and shebeens, a man who learned his trade in France and comes home to a countryside already primed for rising. He is spoken of before he is seen, his name a password that turns cautious farmers into conspirators. His return gives the scattered Whiteboys a figure to rally behind, but the gap between the myth and the man is what the story keeps testing.
