Chapter 1

The Time Traveller explains the concept of the fourth dimension (Time) to a group of dinner guests, arguing that time is a dimension like space and that movement through it is possible. He demonstrates a small model of a time machine, which vanishes into the future, astonishing his audience.
Chapter 2
II
The narrator reflects on the general disbelief in the Time Machine among the dinner guests. A week later, the group gathers again, and the Time Traveller arrives late, disheveled and exhausted, with a cut on his chin and tattered, bloodstained socks. After eating and composing himself, he agrees to tell his story, insisting on no interruptions, and begins to recount his journey through time.

Chapter III: The Time Traveller's Journey Begins
The Time Traveller recounts his first journey through time, describing the disorienting and exhilarating sensations of accelerating through days, years, and centuries. He eventually stops in the year 802,701 AD, landing on a lawn near a massive white sphinx statue. After a hailstorm, he encounters the frail, beautiful Eloi and begins to explore this strange future world.
Chapter 4

The Time Traveller describes his arrival in the year 802,701 AD and his first encounters with the Eloi. He observes their childlike, peaceful society, their vegetarian diet, and the dilapidated yet beautiful buildings. He speculates that humanity has declined into a state of decadence and security, where strength and ambition have faded, leaving only a gentle, artistic, but ultimately languid existence.
Chapter 5
V
The Time Traveller reflects on the lack of aged or infirm among the Eloi, the absence of machinery or creative industry, and the mysterious wells and towers suggesting an underground ventilation system. He rescues a drowning Eloi girl, whom he names Weena, and she becomes devoted to him. He struggles to understand the language and social structure. Returning to the White Sphinx at night, he discovers his Time Machine has been stolen, plunging him into panic and despair as he searches frantically.
