# How does The Third Round develop the theme of Loyalty and Betrayal?

> The Third Round by H. C. McNeile

## Answer

The Third Round by H. C. McNeile develops Loyalty and Betrayal across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Loyalty is tested among friends and criminals alike—Drummond's comrades rally to him, while the Syndicate members betray each other out of fear, and Blackton double-crosses his employers, showing how self-interest undermines trust.

Drummond's loyalty to Professor Goodman drives his risky escape plan.
