# How does The Swiss Family Robinson develop the theme of Resourcefulness and Industry?

> The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss

## Answer

The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss develops Resourcefulness and Industry across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The family transforms their desolate island into a productive home through constant labor, invention, and adaptation—building shelters, crafting tools, domesticating animals, and using natural resources to meet every need.

The family salvages items from the ship and creatively uses natural resources to build shelter, find food, and create tools.

The family salvages tools, weapons, and materials from the wreck, and constructs flotation devices from casks and towels.

The father systematically organizes the salvage of useful items from the ship, builds a tent and kitchen from available materials, and the family works together to gather food and supplies.
