> The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen by Rudolph Erich Raspe

## Answer

The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen by Rudolph Erich Raspe develops Self-Aggrandizement and Heroism across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The Baron constantly portrays himself as a heroic, resourceful figure who single-handedly solves problems (e.g., cutting a canal across the Isthmus of Suez), satirizing the vanity and self-promotion of adventurers and leaders.

The Baron consistently exaggerates his own bravery and cleverness, positioning himself as a heroic figure in absurd situations.

The Baron's public defense of his honor and his claim to have retired from public life highlight his self-importance and heroic self-image.

The Baron presents himself as a clever and heroic figure, overcoming a life-threatening situation through quick thinking and action.
