# Enid Dent — The Story of Ivy character guide

> Enid Dent in The Story of Ivy by Marie Belloc Lowndes.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Enid, Dent

**First appearance:** 0003-iii

## Snapshot

A quiet presence in Ivy's social orbit whose loyalty and watchfulness make her a useful confidante and a possible witness.

## Who they are

Enid Dent belongs to the same easy, pleasure-loving world in which Ivy plays her part, close enough to be trusted with errands and confidences. Where Ivy performs charm, Enid observes, and her position on the edge of the Lextons' circle gives her a view of comings and goings that others miss. Her friendship matters because it offers Ivy both cover and, eventually, a pair of eyes she cannot fully control.
