**Role:** supporting

**First appearance:** 0001-the-slaves-of-the-padishah

## Snapshot

A renegade and informer who trades secrets of easy plunder to the Spahis, playing both sides while wearing the mask of pious obedience.

## Who they are

Zülfikar loiters at the fortress gate, feigning deafness and devotion whenever Feriz Beg presses him about his nocturnal errands. In truth he sells the Spahis the whereabouts of wealthy Wallachian villages, taking a cut of the booty while the Pasha looks the other way. His sly negotiation with Feriz Beg—half threat, half bargain—reveals a man who survives by knowing exactly how much treachery his masters will tolerate, and his tip about Élesd sets in motion the ambush that follows.
