# Jack Dodd — The Shore Road Mystery character guide

> Jack Dodd in The Shore Road Mystery by Franklin W. Dixon.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Dodd, Jack, The Dodd

**First appearance:** 0000-i-stolen-cars

## Snapshot

Bailed, badgered, and watched from apple trees, Jack Dodd is the farmer's son whose innocence the Hardy boys have to prove before the real thieves get away.

## Who they are

Jack Dodd and his family have been accused of the Shore Road car thefts and are paying for it in troopers, detectives, and neighbors peering over fences. He sits on his barnyard fence, disconsolate but still cracking jokes about the sleuths popping up like jack rabbits. His persecution is the emotional engine of the early book: if the Hardy boys can't clear him, the mystery becomes a miscarriage of justice.
