# Fenton Hardy — The Shore Road Mystery character guide

> Fenton Hardy in The Shore Road Mystery by Franklin W. Dixon.

**Role:** supporting

**First appearance:** 0000-i-stolen-cars

## Snapshot

One of America's greatest criminologists, retired from the NYPD to Bayport—and quietly prouder of his amateur sons than he'll ever admit.

## Who they are

Fenton Hardy moved his family to Bayport for private practice and discouraged his boys from following him into detective work, preferring medicine or law. Then Frank and Joe solved the Tower Treasure case without him, and his objections softened into secret pride. He matters here as the standard the brothers measure themselves against—and as the reason they believe this kind of work is worth doing at all.
