A destitute barber, Shibli Bagarag, is prophesied to shave the enchanted Shagpat, whose single magical hair holds an entire city in illusion. Shibli Bagarag arrives in the city of Shagpat, where an old woman prophesies he will shave the clothier Shagpat and achieve greatness. He is betrothed to Noorna bin Noorka, who reveals Shagpat's power comes from a single enchanted hair. To succeed, Shibli must obtain a magical blade, the Sword of Aklis, and overcome obstacles set by the genie Karaz and Queen Rabesqurat. With Noorna's guidance, he captures the horse Garraveen, retrieves waters from the Well of Paravid, and navigates the halls of Aklis to claim the Sword. After rescuing Noorna from Karaz, he devises a plot to shave Shagpat during a ritual. Despite illusions and resistance, Shibli shaves Shagpat, breaking the enchantment and freeing the city. He marries Noorna, who regains her beauty, and they rule wisely, while the tale reflects on the cyclical nature of illusion and the need for renewal.

Shibli Bagarag
