# Kramenin — The Secret Adversary character guide

> Kramenin in The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Monsieur Kramenin

**First appearance:** 0018-xvi-further-adventures-of-tommy

## Snapshot

A Russian diplomat with pale venomous eyes and a coward's instinct for self-preservation, Kramenin knows where Jane Finn is kept and dreads saying so.

## Who they are

Kramenin receives visitors in a suite at Claridge's, dictates to a secretary, and measures men by their fortunes, but when Julius Hersheimmer produces a revolver his composure collapses entirely. He has seen Mr. Brown, spoken to him face to face without knowing it, and that memory makes him more afraid of his own master than of any American millionaire. He matters because his confession names Astley Priors and confirms that Jane Finn is a prisoner, not a runaway.
