# How does The Road to Oz develop the theme of Magic and Wonder?

> The Road to Oz by L. Frank Baum

## Answer

The Road to Oz by L. Frank Baum develops Magic and Wonder across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

Magic permeates the world of Oz, from the Love Magnet and the Truth Pond to the Powder of Life and the Magic Belt, serving as a source of both adventure and moral lessons, and reinforcing the fantastical, whimsical nature of the setting.

Polychrome's origin as the Rainbow's Daughter and her graceful dancing introduce a magical, ethereal element to the journey.

The Scoodlers' ability to remove and throw their heads, the Love Magnet's power, and the surreal soup-kettle cave highlight the magical elements of the chapter.

Johnny Dooit's magic tools and rapid construction of the sand-boat evoke a sense of wonder and magical craftsmanship.
