> Jim Thomson's betting on boxing matches leads to financial trouble and fear of parental wrath, illustrating the risks and moral disapproval associated with gambling among schoolboys.

## Explanation

Jim Thomson's betting on boxing matches leads to financial trouble and fear of parental wrath, illustrating the risks and moral disapproval associated with gambling among schoolboys.

Jim Thomson's debt from betting on his brother Allen drives his anxiety and motivates his performance in the Sports.

Jim's need for two pounds to settle a bet drives the production of the special Glow Worm edition.

Betting and Its Consequences is one of the patterns The Pothunters by P. G. Wodehouse returns to. The chapter notes above are from this edition’s companions — open those chapters to see how the book stages the idea rather than treating the theme as a slogan.
