Tony Graham and Allen Thomson meet at Aldershot for the Public Schools' Boxing Competition. They discuss their training and opponents, weigh in, and compete in their respective bouts. Tony wins his first fight, and Allen wins his, setting up a final match between them. The chapter ends as the final begins, with Allen taking an early lead.
Chapter 4
Thieves Break in and Steal
Tony returns from Aldershot to learn from his fag Robinson that the Pavilion has been burgled and the sports prizes stolen. Meanwhile, Jim Thomson confesses to Tony that he is in debt due to a bet on his brother Allen, and hopes to win money in the upcoming Sports to pay it off.
Chapter 5
IV: Certain Revelations
Jim confesses to Tony his nighttime escapade of breaking into the Pavilion to retrieve his notes, revealing he inadvertently encountered the real burglar. Tony listens with interest, and Jim worries about being implicated in the theft of the sports cups.
