## Snapshot

The high deity whose celestial realm frames the afterlife Kamanita wakes into, a silent measure of how far the pilgrim still has to travel.

## Who they are

In the Buddhist cosmos, Brahma stands at the summit of the heavens that Kamanita glimpses beyond the lotus ponds of Sukhavati, a presence invoked whenever the newly awakened soul wonders what lies past the Coral Tree and the heavenly Gunga. His grandeur is less a personality than a horizon: the beings of Paradise speak of higher states they have never troubled to visit, and their serene indifference quietly exposes how much of awakening is still ahead. That distance between bliss and true insight shadows Kamanita's early wanderings and gives the paradise scenes their undertow of unfinished business.
