> Baron Fitz-Owen in The Old English Baron by Clara Reeve.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** the Lord Fitz-Owen, Lord Fitz-Owen

**First appearance:** 0002-the-old-english-baron

## Snapshot

The current lord of Castle Lovel, a man of conscience and caution who inherited a seat his family acquired under circumstances he may never have fully examined.

## Who they are

Baron Fitz-Owen holds the castle through his marriage to Sir Walter Lovel's sister, a transaction that left the old family scattered and the estate in new hands. He is just enough to be troubled by the mysteries of his own house, yet cautious enough to avoid probing them too deeply. His uneasy position between duty to his children and unease about his title makes him the pivot on which the household's moral weather turns.
