# Joe Hardy — The Mystery of Cabin Island character guide > Joe Hardy in The Mystery of Cabin Island by Franklin W. Dixon. **Role:** major **Also known as:** Joe, Joseph Hardy **First appearance:** 0000-i-iceboating-on-the-bay ## Snapshot The younger Hardy brother, quick to connect Hanleigh's iceboat trips to the mystery and quicker still to want a look inside the cabin. ## Who they are Joe works shoulder to shoulder with Frank, and it's his eager reasoning that links Tad Carson and Ike Nash to Hanleigh's comings and goings across the ice. He bristles at being ordered off the island and is ready to rush a suspect the instant one appears, a hot impulse Frank has to hold in check.
