**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Jefferson, XXV Elroy Jefferson

## Snapshot

The wealthy stamp collector who lends Cabin Island to the Hardy boys, only to become the quiet center of a mystery involving a rosewood box and a persistent would-be buyer.

## Who they are

Elroy Jefferson owns Cabin Island and the priceless stamp collection that vanished with it years ago, and his decision to let the boys use the cabin for a winter outing puts them right where the trouble is. He is generous and trusting, but he has been burned before — by Hanleigh's lowball offers and by a theft he never stopped trying to solve, even hiring detectives who failed. His authority over the island gives the boys their standing against intruders, and his buried history with the place is the fuse that keeps the early mystery burning.
