# Biff Hooper — The Mystery of Cabin Island character guide > Biff Hooper in The Mystery of Cabin Island by Franklin W. Dixon. **Role:** supporting **Also known as:** Biff **First appearance:** 0000-i-iceboating-on-the-bay ## Snapshot A steady, dry-witted member of the Hardy circle who watches Hanleigh's measuring of the fireplace and doesn't let him forget it. ## Who they are Biff is part of the crew holding Cabin Island under Mr. Jefferson's authority, and he's the one who punctures Hanleigh's cover story by asking, dryly, whether that's why the man was measuring the fireplace so carefully. He's dubious when Frank proposes catching Hanleigh off guard, predicting the man will simply order them away, but he stays in the hunt regardless. His blunt skepticism gives the boys' confrontation with Hanleigh its sharpest moment of exposure. ## Relationships ### [Frank Hardy](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/frank_hardy) _friendship_ Biff is a close friend and ally of Frank, often helping the Hardy boys with physical tasks and investigations. ### [Chet Morton](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/chet_morton) _friendship_ Biff and Chet are good friends, frequently spending time together and supporting the Hardy boys' efforts. ### [Joe Hardy](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/joe_hardy) _friendship_ Biff and Joe are good friends, with Biff often joining Joe in adventurous and physical activities. ### [Chet Morton](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/chet_morton) _friendship_ Biff and Chet are good friends, frequently spending time together and supporting the Hardy boys' efforts. ### [Frank Hardy](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/frank_hardy) _friendship_ Biff is a close friend and ally of Frank, often helping the Hardy boys with physical tasks and investigations. ### [Joe Hardy](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/joe_hardy) _friendship_ Biff and Joe are good friends, with Biff often joining Joe in adventurous and physical activities. ### [Chet Morton](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/chet_morton) _friendship_ Biff and Chet are good friends, frequently spending time together and supporting the Hardy boys' efforts. ### [Frank Hardy](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/frank_hardy) _friendship_ Biff is a close friend and ally of Frank, often helping the Hardy boys with physical tasks and investigations. ### [Joe Hardy](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/characters/joe_hardy) _friendship_ Biff and Joe are good friends, with Biff often joining Joe in adventurous and physical activities. ## In the story ### [IV: Holiday Plans](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/chapters/iv-holiday-plans) Practices shadowboxing and proposes a winter camping trip to the Hardy boys. ### [Preparations](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/chapters/vi-preparations) Expresses delight by doing handsprings in the snow, volunteers to bring all the food. ### [The Other Iceboat](https://www.betterreads.dev/discover/the_mystery_of_cabin_island_se/chapters/vii-the-other-iceboat) Proud owner of a new iceboat;
