## Snapshot

James Tovey's grown daughter, courted by young Ted and watched over anxiously by her father, carries a private life her parents only half suspect.

## Who they are

Ivy is the Toveys' daughter, a young woman whose outings with Ted Copperdock prompt her father's uneasy warnings and her mother's brisk defense. She is absent from the family teatime on the evening her father is killed, a small domestic detail that lingers with the reader. Her secret, whatever it is, makes her both a grieving daughter and a figure the investigation cannot afford to overlook.
