# Inspector Hanslet — The Murders in Praed Street character guide

> Inspector Hanslet in The Murders in Praed Street by John Rhode.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Hanslet

**First appearance:** 0001-i-the-street

## Snapshot

A Scotland Yard inspector with a memory for names and facts, who carries the baffling case to Dr. Priestley when Whyland runs dry.

## Who they are

Hanslet recounts the murders from Tovey to Martin for the Professor, admitting he was not on the spot and cannot vouch for every detail. He is candid about Whyland's limitations, calling him keen but lacking imagination, and lays out the collapse of the Copperdock theory with professional detachment. His role is to bridge the official investigation and the Professor's colder, more penetrating analysis.
