As a supporting figure in The Murder on the Links, Marthe Daubreuil is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
Beautiful and anxious; runs after Poirot to ask about suspects, and later appears frightened when the magistrate visits.
Marthe Daubreuil is the girl Jack Renauld loves — or thinks he loves — and the daughter of the woman living quietly at the Villa Marguerite next door. Poirot counts four separate points against her, from an overheard conversation to a missing souvenir dagger, yet she moves through the case with the poise of someone who has nothing to fear. She matters because she sits at the exact intersection of the Renauld fortune, the old Beroldy scandal, and Jack's tangled romances.
