## Who they are

Geoffrey Raymond is the efficient, well-mannered presence who keeps Roger Ackroyd's papers filed and his household running — and who knows more about the family's private arrangements than he lets on. He moves easily between the drawing room and the study, bridging Ackroyd's business world and his domestic one. When the investigation turns to Ralph Paton's debts and Flora's settlements, Raymond's careful composure becomes one more surface the truth has to break through.
