# Miss Cram — The Murder at the Vicarage character guide

> Miss Cram in The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Miss Gladys Cram, Gladys Cram, little Gladys, Gladys, The fair Gladys

**First appearance:** 0001-the-murder-at-the-vicarage

## Snapshot

A brisk, bouncing young woman whose cheerful nosiness about the murder and breezy contempt for the police make her a village original worth watching.

## Who they are

Gladys Cram breezes through the vicarage with movie-star opinions about Lawrence Redding and a healthy scorn for anyone foolish enough to confess to murder. She is common, good-humoured, and utterly unembarrassed by her own curiosity, which she pursues with the same energy she brings to everything else. Whether she is merely a gossip or something more deliberate, her sharp eyes and sharper questions keep her circling the case's edges.
