## Snapshot

A Middle Five boy with a sharp eye for crooked plough-beams and a sharper tongue when his brother Warren's courage is questioned.

## Who they are

Lester sits close in the circle of boys, quick to point out how a beam ought to run and quicker to insist Warren cannot back down from Gideon's challenge. He warns his brother to remember the waist-and-chin counter, then finds himself volunteered to climb after the bee swarm and silently vows revenge on Edwin. His fierce family loyalty and dry humor anchor him in the gang.
