A big, grinning mischief-maker barred from every gang at the mission school, Jim trades in whispered rumors and tears from smaller boys.

## Who they are

Jim drifts through the schoolyard excluded from the gangs, using gossip as his weapon of choice. He carries a challenge from Gid to Warren knowing exactly how the proud boy will answer, then needles little Bob until Edwin intervenes. His meddling sets the fight in motion that will test the Middle Five's loyalty and force Frank to teach Warren the wrestling holds he needs.
