**Also known as:** François, Montcorbier, Master François

**First appearance:** 0005-i-the-episode-called-the-wedding-jest

## Snapshot

Scholar, poet, and foster-son of a canon with no money to rub together, François de Montcorbier climbs garden walls for love and rhymes that will not fill the pot.

## Who they are

The Rue Saint Jacques dismisses him as inoffensive at best, a Navarre scholar whose verses are thin diet for two lusty young folk, yet Catherine de Vaucelles chooses him over noblemen and priests alike. He scales the Vaucelles garden wall at nine in the evening, three hours from Catherine having stretched into three eternities, and measures himself against Pyramus as a pattern for all lovers. His betrothal ignites the episode's jealousies, and his reckless devotion sets the whole Rue Saint Jacques shaking its head.
