First appearance: v in business
As a supporting figure in The Life of Buffalo Bill, Mr. Milligan is not background color—the story leans on what they do once the chapter opens.
A lively Chicago hunter who jokingly fears an Indian encounter but later wants to pursue them.
Milligan belongs to the settlement world of early Kansas, where Cody's family landed during the state's troubled formative years. As an employer and neighbor, he represents the ordinary frontier economy of freight, wagons, and bull-trains that gave a restless boy his first taste of responsibility and danger. His role matters because it grounds Cody's legendary career in humble, believable beginnings.
