# Bibot — The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel character guide

> Bibot in The League of the Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Passports Bibot, citizen Bibot

**First appearance:** 0013-a-question-of-passports

## Snapshot

A gatekeeper of revolutionary Paris whose passion for passports and petty authority makes him a perfect instrument — and a perfect fool — for the Pimpernel's games.

## Who they are

Bibot guards the city's edges, where papers are scrutinized and travelers vanish or die. His pride in his own vigilance is exactly the vanity the League exploits, turning the machinery of the Terror against itself. He represents the small, self-important cogs of the Revolution: men whose certainty that they cannot be fooled is the very crack through which the Scarlet Pimpernel slips.
