# Cammy Fittleworth — The Last Post character guide

> Cammy Fittleworth in The Last Post by Ford Madox Ford.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Fittleworth, Cammie

**First appearance:** 0002-the-last-post

## Snapshot

A great, good-natured countess with liquid eyes and a will, she guards her protégées and tolerates Sylvia only so far.

## Who they are

Lady Fittleworth—Cammie—presides over a household of charitable schemes and social authority, married to a man whose hounds and temper she manages with quiet firmness. She protects young American women like Helen Lowther under her roof, and her displeasure is a force Sylvia must calculate against. Her tolerance of Sylvia has limits, and those limits shape the social pressure closing in on the Tietjens' arrangements.
