# How does The Jewels of Aptor develop the theme of Quest and Adventure?

> The Jewels of Aptor by Samuel R. Delany

## Answer

The Jewels of Aptor by Samuel R. Delany develops Quest and Adventure across the chapters the companion marks for this theme.

The plot follows a perilous journey to Aptor to retrieve jewels and rescue a priestess, with the characters facing monsters, treacherous landscapes, and moral dilemmas typical of epic quests.

The lines evoke a journey through perilous elements ('rings of fire', 'ropes of wind'), suggesting an epic quest.

The recruitment of Geo, Urson, and Snake for a voyage to an unknown destination sets the stage for a quest.

The party resolves to find the Temple of Hama, secure the stone, and rescue the young Goddess.
