# Jordde — The Jewels of Aptor character guide

> Jordde in The Jewels of Aptor by Samuel R. Delany.

**Role:** supporting

**First appearance:** 0001-the-jewels-of-aptor

## Snapshot

A priest of Argo who travels with the party, carrying the authority of the god whose island they are approaching.

## Who they are

Jordde accompanies the group as a representative of Argo, the deity also known as Leptar, lending the expedition a religious dimension it might otherwise lack. His presence raises the stakes: the party is not merely treasure-hunting but moving through territory claimed by a god. Whether he is guide, spy, or something in between is a question the early chapters leave deliberately open, and his loyalties shape how the group reads every sign along the way.
