## Snapshot

The last young Comte d'Esgrignon returns from Paris trailing debts, scandals, and forged promises into a family too proud to see what he has become.

## Who they are

Victurnien is the sole heir of an ancient name stripped of its fortune, raised by an aunt and a notary to believe the world owes him deference. His charm and recklessness collide with the d'Esgrignons' desperate pride, and his Parisian debts become the lever his family's enemies will use against them. He is the fault line along which the old aristocracy's survival will crack or hold.
