> Frank Norris West in The Insidious Dr. Fu-Manchu by Sax Rohmer.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Norris West, Mr. West

**First appearance:** 0002-iii

## Snapshot

An American journalist drawn into Nayland Smith's hunt for Fu-Manchu, whose nose for a story pulls him toward the very dangers he should avoid.

## Who they are

West moves through the investigation as an outsider with a reporter's instinct for the sensational, tagging along where Smith and Petrie probe the edges of Fu-Manchu's web. His professional hunger for a scoop sits uneasily beside the genuine terror of what he witnesses, making him both useful and a liability. He matters because his presence widens the circle of civilians snared by the conspiracy, showing how far the Doctor's reach extends beyond official channels.
