What happens
Petrie and Smith infiltrate Shen-Yan's opium den in disguise, observing a dacoit and other agents reporting to Fu-Manchu. They attempt to rush the hidden stairs, but Petrie falls through a trap door into a water-filled pit. Smith rescues him using a false queue, and the den catches fire. Fu-Manchu escapes, and Karamanèh, disguised as a Chinaman, slips away. Later, Smith reveals he spared Karamanèh because she saved Petrie's life.
