**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** Saradine, Paul, Prince Paul Saradine, Prince Paul

**First appearance:** 0009-the-sins-of-prince-saradine

## Snapshot

An exiled prince living in luminous, melancholy retreat at Reed House, whose polished hospitality conceals a bitter feud with the brother who drained him dry.

## Who they are

Prince Saradine presides over Reed House, a place of long windows and dead daylight where the river's melancholy murmur never stops, attended by a sullen butler and an Italian housekeeper who are the last survivors of his foreign household. His brother, Captain Stephen, is spoken of as a ne'er-do-well who bled him of thousands and forced him into quiet exile, and the old butler's sneer at Stephen's name hints at wounds still open. Father Brown, sinking into the house's secrets through friendly silence, senses that this is the wrong place to have come to, and that being the right person in it may cost more than anyone expects.
