She reflects on her past with Napier Harpenden, their childhood beneath the ash tree 'Harrod's', and the painful separation orchestrated by Sir Maurice. Iris reveals her intention to confront Sir Maurice, acknowledging her unfairness to Venice Pollen and her determination to reclaim Napier.
