# Roger Unthank — The Great Impersonation character guide

> Roger Unthank in The Great Impersonation by E. Phillips Oppenheim.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** poor Roger, Roger

**First appearance:** 0001-ii

## Snapshot

Rosamund's obsessive suitor who vanished after a bloody fight with Everard, Roger Unthank haunts the estate as a ghost no one can quite dismiss.

## Who they are

Roger was a local man whose infatuation with Rosamund Felbrigg curdled into madness after she married Everard, and his disappearance the night of their violent encounter left a stain on the Dominey name that the whole neighbourhood believes. His body was never found, only the story: a temper, a fight, blood on a husband's clothes, and a swamp that swallows what it is given. Whether ghost or grievance, he is the reason Everard's return is met with dread rather than joy, and the reason Rosamund half-believes the dead will not let her husband rest.
