# Siméon Diodokis — The Golden Triangle character guide

> Siméon Diodokis in The Golden Triangle by Maurice Leblanc.

**Role:** supporting

**Also known as:** old Siméon, Siméon, Diodokis, M. Siméon, Sim

**First appearance:** 0000-i-coralie

## Snapshot

The grizzled, spectacle-wearing Greek banker whose devotion to Essarès hides a paternity that detonates Patrice's whole understanding of the case.

## Who they are

Siméon moves through the story as servant, conspirator, and — the porter insists — Patrice's father, a claim Patrice greets with disbelieving laughter. He is Essarès's man, escorting Coralie, meeting veiled women on quays, slipping aboard the Belle Hélène without a backward glance, yet his loyalty to his master is matched by secrets he does not share. His yellow spectacles and thick brows make him a figure of menace, but the question of what he truly is to Patrice keeps him from being a simple villain.
